The TRD Pro's factory setup is strong enough to lean on. This build adds targeted upgrades for longer trips without going full custom.

The 2024 Tacoma TRD Pro is a different proposition than the previous generation. The new DOHC 2.4L turbo and i-Force Max hybrid option change the performance picture significantly, and the factory Fox shocks are genuinely good. The starting point for this build is better than any previous Tacoma.
With the factory suspension already dialed in, the focus shifted to utility and systems. The Prinsu rack was the first addition — the Gen 3 Tacoma fitment uses the same mounting system as the 4Runner, and the rack opened up a flexible trip-specific configuration.
Regular loadout: a 23L water container, recovery boards, and a sleeping platform that hangs off the rear gate. The rack runs solar on longer trips.
The CBI front bumper replaced the factory plastic unit for one reason: approach angle. The factory bumper is a significant limiter on steep entry angles — the CBI unit improves approach by roughly 8 degrees and adds a proper mount for a future winch.
It's heavier than OEM but the difference is not meaningful in daily driving. The approach angle improvement is meaningful on every steep descent.
KC HiLiTES Flex ERA 1 ditch lights complete the kit. The modular mounting system made positioning straightforward — they fill the A-pillar shadow cleanly and have been reliable through two seasons of hard use.
No lift. The TRD Pro's factory Fox suspension sits at a height that accommodates 285 tires without modification. Adding lift without upgrading the front axle on a newer turbocharged platform introduces premature wear. The goal was capable, not tall.
